چکیده مقاله:

Quantitative microscopic structure of testis in adult Arabian rams, raised under closed grazing system in Khuzestan province of Iran, was studied in four seasons over a one year period. For this purpose, thirty adult rams were randomly selected and the live weight and scrotal circumference of rams were recorded. At the beginning of each season, among the study group, four rams were randomly selected, slaughtered and their left testes were removed and weighed. For microscopic studies, tissue samples were excised from the left testes, fixed in Bouin’s solution and embedded in paraffin. Cross-sections (5 μm thickness) were stained with haematoxylin-eosin and evaluated with quantitative techniques. The results showed that scrotal circumferences, weight and volume of testis varied significantly throughout the year, with the lowest values in early summer (P

Morpho- and Histometric Evaluations on the Testis and Epididymis in Buffalo Bulls During the Different Reproductive Seasons

Some morphometric parameters of the buffalo gonad and epididymis were compared in the mating (late autumn-winter) versus non-mating (late spring to the beginning of autumn) seasons. Organs from mature bulls of proven fertility were collected at slaughtering in February and September and used for this study. Testicular and epididymal diameters and weights were measured. The diameters of the test...

Expression profile of cold shock protein genes in goats (Capra hircus) during different seasons

The study was conducted to demonstrate expression profile of cold shock protein genes; cold inducible RNA binding protein (CIRP) and RNA binding motif protein 3 (RBM3) in goats (Capra hircus) during different seasons to check the gene expression in different thermal conditions. Blood samples were collected from healthy goats of tropical and temperate region during peak winter, moderate season a...

Lipid metabolism in the testis of the ram.

1. Analysis of rams testes revealed that phosphatidylcholine was the major phospholipid and accounted for about 40% of the total. Only small amounts of choline plasmalogen were present. 2. The ratio of phosphatidylcholine to choline plasmalogen in the testis was very different from that occurring in the spermatozoa. This result was in contrast with those for rat testis and rat spermatozoa (obta...

The N-acetylhexosaminidase components of the ram testis and epididymis.

Three and four N-acetylhexosaminidase components, from ram testis and epididymis respectively, have been separated by ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose. Although they all have the same molecular weight (approx. 140000) and very similar catalytic properties towards the synthetic substrates, 4-methylumbelliferyl N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminide and N-acetyl-beta-galactosaminide, isoelectri...

Distribution of oxidases in the testis of buffalo, goat and ram: an histochemical study.

Peroxidase, monoamine oxidase (MAO) and cytochrome oxidase (CCO) have been histochemically localized in the testis of buffalo, goat and ram. The results in these three species were more or less similar. Peroxidase was localized only in the interstitial tissue and could be used as a marker enzyme for this testicular compartment. MAO and CCO were present in both the interstitial tissue and the se...

Stereological Study on the Effects of Maternal Caffeine Consumption on Histomorphometric Changes of Testis and Prostate in Rat Offspring

Background and Objective: It is conceivable that caffeine consumption would induce gonadal changes. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of embryonic caffeine exposure on rat testis and prostate. Materials and Methods: Female rats were divided into (n=7): A control, only received drinking water. B and C groups received caffeine low dose (26 mg/kg) and high dose (45 mg/kg) respectively...
